In the middle of Sogn og Fjordane, around the approx. 30 km long Jølstravatnet, you will find Jølster. Municipalities have about 3,000 inhabitants and cover an area of 671 km2. Of this, 90 km2 are glaciers and 4325 km2 are fresh water. The highest mountain in the municipality is called Snønipa and is 1,827 meters high.
Jølster has two centres, the municipal center Skei in the east and Vassenden in the western part of the municipality. It is a short drive to regional centers both in Nordfjørd and Sogn og Sunnfjørd.
