Ca 4 hours tour. (+ stops and pictures and wow moments).
You drive from Vassenden to Fv 613, the exit to Gaularfjallet and Balestrand.
You drive over to Haukedalen , to Vik. After Vik you will come to the well known - Likholefossen. A beautiful waterfall, worth exploring.
Gaularfjallet, a breathtaking sight.
Balestrand, such a nice little town.
Kvamsøy kyrkje. Here is a perfect place to stop for a picnic.
To Høyanger, Vadheim, Sande, Førde and back to Vassenden and then home.
If you are going to Bergen, then take the detour, to Gaularfjellet, and Balestrand as described above. When you get to Vadheim you turn to Lavik where the ferry is waiting for you. Ferry leaves every 20 min.
This will add 1-2 hours to the trip, but with all the sights on the way, it's well worth it.
The Glacier Museum is a nice 2-3 hours visit.
If you start at the museum. It is nice to visit the Glacier Museum, to get some knowledge and get to know better the Glacier, before exploring the Glacier.
On the way back from the museum, there are 2 view points to the Glacier, Both are with in a short walking distance from a free parking sone.
(If you are travelling on the off season, you might want to check the opening hours of the museum.)
Geiranger fjord is perhaps, the most popular tourist attraction in the Sogn og Fjordanes.
You can start the trip in Byrkjelo, where you will find a very nice local bakery, Bakar Jon with freshly baked bread or croissant....
Then you hedd toward Nordfjord. Innvik, Olden, Loen, where is a skylyft to top of the mountain. Stryn is a very known little tourist town. Then you head up to the mountains, and end in Geiranger.
For those who are heading up to Ålesund or the Atlantic road, this is a must see on the way.
